Cristina de Prada: A Modern Mad Hatter

I think I am in love with the whimsical hat designs by milliner Cristina de Prada. I love her bold light-hearted designs that speak to the joy of shape, color and idea - fashion rules be damned.

Leigh Viner: A Breath of Fresh Air

Leigh Viner is a breath of fresh air for fashion illustration - she presents an enticing fantasy-world of beauty, but still allows "imperfections" like loose line work or pain splashes give life to her drawings.  Keep your eyes on her - I predict you'll be seeing a lot more of her wonderful talents in the future.

She has an etsy store here:

Her website of work is here:

And she shares her inspirations on her blog here:

Calleen Cordero - LA shoe designer extraordinaire

I love the sculptural shapes and rich materials used by Los Angeles shoe designer, Calleen Cordero. I own two pairs, and no other shoe is as comfortable, stable or well constructed as these.

Check out her work on her website here - {link} here - or stop by her Los Angeles show room in person to really appreciate the soft textures of the leather, the fine polished wood, and attention to detail and design.

dusica dusica :: shoe or sculpture?

Wondering down Mercer Street one day in New York, I stumbled upon the store of Dusica Sacks, dusicadusica. Sometimes I like to check in with them just to see what kind of sculptural shoes they've dreamed up lately.

Check out the website here - dusicadusica {link}, and maybe you'll find yourself hooked, too.

Trina Turk "Playa"

I came across this video the other day that was made by Trina Turk, and I thought "this is EXACTLY the kind of fashion video that they should be making and posting on the Trina Turk website."

It's from a couple of seasons ago, but I think it really catches the right vibe that Trina Turk is trying to create with her clothing, and what her branding strategy should be for everything they do.

Check it out larger on YouTube here.

Orla Kiely Spring/Summer 09

Can I gush for a minute? I just LOVE Orla Kiely. Even when I'm not really into any specific item she's designed, her graphic patterns and light-hearted sensibility completely win me over.

I was contacted today and told that I had won a free outfit from the Orla Kiely shop. I am still not sure if it's true, but since it's top of mind, I think creating a blog post is in order. Light a little candle for me and send up a prayer that I win that outfit - I'd be over the moon if I do.

You can check out her usa shop here orlakiely.com/usa

New Hat

Picked up this hat on Etsy the other day, just in time for summer.
It's from Sanchia845. They have a lot of other, really cool hats, wraps, and cashmere items.

Etsy: Grey Handbags

I was looking around on Etsy the other day, and it struck me that they are a great source they are for handbags.

Not only are you supporting a craftsman, you are also getting an item crafted with greater creative detail and JOY. Prices range from $25 to $40. Yeah - I know - I’m shocked, too. I think I am going to get e because it matches some shoes I just bought - but tell me what you think. Got any handbag sources you love?

This last one was made to fit a laptop and is REVERSIBLE. Talk about bang for your buck - and this is way cooler than a regular sad, padded case from the apple store.

Here is where everything came from:
a - bayanhippo.etsy.com
b - viabella.etsy.com
c + d - dollpaul.etsy.com
e + f - crysto.etsy.com
g + h - retrofied.etsy.com

Monster rings

For some reason, having a ridiculously over-sized ring sounds absolutely wonderful to me now. Some kind of Cruella Deville-chic must be in the air. Here are a few off Etsy - I am still looking around for just the right one. These are mostly from
the loving anvil.
