Good Dog. Meet Gerald.

This week marks the beginning a a new art show - over the weekend, people in London will be able to visit an exhibit featuring Gerald, a "pet" project of industrial design firm Lazarian.  What started out as a quest to design an origami dog, has blossomed into a collaboration involving over a hundred different artists, and wonderful variety of limited-edition prints of their trusty companion.

Find out more using the links below.

Condom Light

Ingo Maurer, that lighting creative genius, made this funny light design. Quite a comment on our times ;-) I saw this on design bloom. To go to Ingo Maurer's website, click {here}.

I have a design crush on Ingo Mauer

I just love lighting designer, Ingo Mauer. So imaginative and inspiring! You can go to his website by clicking {here}, and you can read about his amazing exhibit that was at the Cooper Hewitt a while back {here}. Truly he is one of the great artists of our era.

First and last images: from Ingo Mauer's Cooper Hewitt exhibit, "Provoking Magic". The best images of the show are on Ingo Mauer's site. The design of the exhibition spaces are breath-taking, which will only add to your appreciation of the individual examples of his work.

I love the idea of laying under this whimsical lamp by

Huset: Scandinavian Design Housewares

If you like filling your house with clever, designy objects, then boy, do I have a site for you. The website Huset-shop.com has a wide variety of vases and lampshades that keep you dropping designers names left and right when people come visit your home.

I thought the vases above were kind of handy as a sculpural object since they could be either a vase or a candle holder, and look like they can be reconfigured into a different order.

Interesting coat (or other object) hooks.

The trees, above, are a coat rack. Decorative and handy, too.
